Open now in the Breezeway Gallery through November 29, 2025

In his pop-up solo exhibition Memories Fading into Oblivion, photographer Dr. Russ Young invites viewers to experience Floyd County through a timeless lens.
A Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, Dr. Young began his journey in photography as a high school yearbook photographer in the 1960s — and continues to capture the world with a blend of technical mastery and storytelling sensitivity.

The exhibition features a striking collection of black-and-white and digital photographs, all created using both film cameras — some nearly a century old — and modern digital tools. Each image reflects his commitment to authenticity and craft: “These images are completely free of tawdry gimmicks and digital trickery.”
Focusing on the quiet beauty of the Appalachian landscape and the poetry of the everyday, Dr. Young’s work honors both tradition and transformation.
