Floyd Living Traditions Festival Wins 2026 Best of the Mountains Platinum Award


We are thrilled to announce that the Floyd Living Traditions Festival has been voted a 2026 Blue Ridge Country Magazine Best of the Mountains Platinum Award winner for Best Events: Heritage & Culture Festival in the Upper Blue Ridge Region!


Platinum is the highest award level, recognizing the Floyd Living Traditions Festival among the best destinations, businesses, attractions, restaurants, and experiences throughout the mountains of the South.


This year’s Best of the Mountains Readers’ Choice Poll drew a record-breaking 37,000+ votes between April 23 and July 12, producing the largest and most comprehensive awards list in Blue Ridge Country Magazine’s 38-year history. More than 615 winners received over 840 awards across the mountain regions.


A Celebration Built by Our Community


Now entering its fourth year, the Floyd Living Traditions Festival was created to celebrate and share the living traditions of Floyd County and the Appalachian region through handmade craft, music, dance, visual arts, storytelling, demonstrations, and hands-on experiences.


What makes this recognition especially meaningful is the community behind it.

The festival has grown through the dedication of our partners at the Floyd Country Store’s Handmade Music School, along with our artists, demonstrators, performers, tradition bearers, volunteers, sponsors, board, staff, community partners, and the thousands of visitors who have joined us over the past four years.


This Platinum Award belongs to all of you.


Celebrate With Us on August 22


There is no better way to celebrate than by joining us for the 4th Annual Floyd Living Traditions Festival on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 10 AM–5 PM at the Floyd Center for the Arts.


This free, all-day event will bring together more than 70 artists and tradition bearers for heritage craft demonstrations, live music and dance, hands-on workshops, exhibitions, artisan vendors, children’s activities, storytelling, local food, community art, and more.

The weekend begins Friday evening, August 21, with a special festival kickoff during the Floyd Country Store’s Friday Night Jamboree.


We are incredibly grateful to everyone who voted, participated, volunteered, performed, demonstrated, sponsored, partnered, attended, and helped spread the word about the Floyd Living Traditions Festival. Four years in, we are proud to see this celebration of Floyd County’s living traditions receive recognition across the region, and we cannot wait to see what comes next.
