Beyond Boundaries is an exhibition that seeks to celebrate the unique perspectives in life that we all experience and how they are expressed creatively. The human experience comes in many forms. Although we may all exist together, we all have a unique perspective on life. What remains steadfast is the innate desire to create that lives within us all. Regardless of how our lives look, creating and expressing are things every human does in their own way. This exhibition invites you to look at authentic and unfiltered expressions and experiences not often remembered in typical art scenes.

Artwork displayed in this exhibition has been contributed by Enola Group Adult Service’s Signature Day Program in Morganton, NC, the Appalachian Artisan Center’s Culture of Recovery Program in Handyman, KY, Gateway Homes from locations throughout Virginia, Fred Martin of Alton, IL, and Chris Walters of Floyd, VA. This theme of creating regardless of life path, skillset, and perspective is presented through a variety of media. Viewers will see pen and ink drawings, weavings, paintings, forgery, luthiery, wood turning, and more.

The Floyd Center for the Arts expresses its gratitude to these participating organizations and people for contributing to this groundbreaking exhibition. The Center is pleased to invite the community to an opening reception to celebrate these artists on Saturday, February 10, 3-5 pm. This event is free and open to the public; light refreshments will be served.
