About the Exhibition

Schedule – June 12th, 13th, and 14th, 2020, 9:00 am – 4 pm each day

Member Tuition - $273.00, Non-Member Tuition - $341.25

Ages – 18 and over

Class Description – This three-day course will include one day (Friday) of Plein Air and two days (Saturday and Sunday) of Classroom.

The one day plein air session is designed to teach students to gather on location, landscape references with small postcard size value studies and color studies. The students then learn how to take this valuable information and turn it into a beautiful finished watercolor painting. Tom will provide each student attending a $150.00 gift of ALL new art supplies needed to paint and sketch with in the field. Tom will provide small folding chairs for those who fly in for the workshop, others should bring collapsible chair. Tom will provide bottled water and plenty of nice snacks for the plein air session. No one will go hungry.

At the two day class room study students will learn an easy, exciting way to lay in successful colorful washes then letting the colors mingle and explode on their own to give interesting effects for a bright, luminous finish for a wonderful landscape painting.

About the Instructor – I am a story teller. I tell stories with my paintings of places I have been and things I have seen. I believe that a painting should not only tell a story, but should have a story behind it. All my paintings do.” -- Tom Jones 

Tom began painting at an early age and has had many years of study, some with well known artist. Two of Tom’s favorite western artists are Thomas Moran and Charles M. Russell. 

Tom is a guest teacher at Savannah College of Arts and Design (SCAD) twice annually. 

Tom is a resident of Central Florida, Tom has been commissioned by government agencies, corporations, environmental groups, clubs and private collectors. In answer to popular demand, he typically produces his watercolor landscapes in a series of three or five paintings around a specific theme.

Tom’s art can be found internationally in many private and corporate collections, including commissioned paintings displayed in the Florida State Capitol Building, Walt Disney World Corporation, the Omni Corporation and Museums. Tom’s work has been featured in many books, magazine articles, posters and brochures.

Tom shares his passion for art and love of nature with students of varying skill levels through international workshops, demonstrations, instructional watercolor books and DVDs.
