2019 Floyd Plein Air Festival Artists Application and Information
Festival Dates: August 12-17, 2019
Call to Artists: December 1, 2018

Notification by March 4, 2019
Combination of invitational and juried. $35 application fee for members, $40 for non-members. Those not accepted to the festival MAY participate in the Quick Draw event. Cash and Merchandise Awards.
Paint Southwestern Virginia’s most picturesque attractions on the Blue Ridge Platueau! Artists will enjoy discovering the mountains, hills, streams, and fields of beautiful Floyd County, Virginia. Painting venues including the Blue Ridge Parkway, Château Morrisette Winery, the Floyd EcoVillage, Apple Ridge Farm, and the Town of Floyd. Events include artist demos, wine tastings, farm-to-table dinner, Quick Draw Contest at the Historic Floyd Country Store & Friday Night Jamboree, art sale and Gala!

Current Schedule:
Sun., August 11: Arrival – Artists arrive and settle into housing, register at the Center, materials stamping, pick up welcome bags
Mon., August 12: Apple Ridge Farm, Copper Hill
Tues., August 13: Blue Ridge Parkway
Painting all day along the BRP, social media live feeds and pics noting where artists are set up.
Wed., August 14: Chateau Morrisette Winery
Painting in and around the winery and vineyards all day.
Thurs., August 15: Floyd Eco Village
Painting in and around the Eco Village and farm all day.
Demo in afternoon by a Healing Arts Program Artist-in-Residence
Fri., August 16: Town of Floyd
Painting in and around the town limits of Floyd all day.
Quick Draw: The Friday Night Jamboree, 6-9pm
Sat., August 17th Collector’s Reception 5-6pm, (ticketed, open bar)
Gala and Sale 6-9pm, cash bar
Main sale/show in Hayloft (2019 Curated Show)
Quick Draw works in Community Room
Artists may have their painting supports stamped throughout the event at the art center and at the venues– only stamped supports will be eligible for judging and sale.
Artists are encouraged to turn in framed paintings during the week – all work with the exception of the Quick Draw pieces, must be turned in by 4pm on Friday the 14th. Quick Draw pieces must be turned into the Center directly after the Friday night event.
