This course is designed to introduce participants to the basic art and techniques of needle felting. You'll learn what types of fibers work best, how to select appropriate felting needles and the technique of stabbing fluffy wool with special needles to turn the wool into flat or 3D creations. Master the basics of making simple shapes and then move on to adding more wool for surface decoration or to make more complicated forms. I will teach you how to make flat decorations and a necklace using your handmade beads. You'll leave class with new felted creations plus the tools and knowledge to create more at home.

Laura Frazier's first effort at making art as a child was drawingand sculpting animals. Later, she studied clay sculpting in Tennessee, California, and Winston-Salem, NC. She excelled at clay but after seeing a needle felting demonstration and imagining what she could create by using wool, Laura clearly saw her path. She has focused on sculpting with wool since 2008. Her wool sculptures and process have been covered numerous times in local and regional newspapers and magazines and in 2017 one of her horse sculptures won an international award.
