At the Floyd Center for the Arts, we believe creativity plays a vital role in childhood development. Our youth programs are designed to give children meaningful, hands-on experiences with art - building confidence, curiosity, and imagination in a supportive studio environment.
We’re excited to share two upcoming opportunities for young artists to learn, explore, and create.

After School Arts Series: Seasonal Creativity
Ages: 6–11 (adult participation optional)
Dates: Thursdays, February 19 – April 23, 2026
Time: 4:00–5:30 PM
Instructor: Serafima R.
Cost: $250 (all supplies included)
This 10-week after-school series invites young artists to explore hands-on artmaking inspired by the changing seasons. Meeting weekly, students will experiment with a wide range of materials and techniques while developing problem-solving skills and creative confidence.
Monthly themes include:
February – Winter Scenes & Textures: Exploring landscapes, texture, and mixed media
March – All About Birds: Learning about habitats, patterns, and form through bird-inspired projects
April – Hello Colors & Flowers: Celebrating spring with bold color, pattern, and nature-inspired designs
No prior art experience is needed - just curiosity and a love of making.

Outside the Lines: Summer Art Camp
Ages: 6–10
Dates: June 22–26, 2026 (Monday–Friday)
Time: 9:00 AM–3:30 PM
Cost: $250
This week-long summer day camp offers young artists the chance to explore a wide variety of art mediums in a fun, immersive setting. Activities may include ceramics, drawing, bookmaking, tie dye, nature art, fiber arts, and more. Campers will also enjoy outdoor time as they celebrate the creativity and energy of summer.
All sessions are taught by a local professional art instructor. Campers should bring a packed lunch, wear clothes that can get messy, and arrive ready to create.
Scholarships
We believe that art should be accessible to every child. Scholarships are available for both the After School Art Series and Summer Art Camp. Scholarships help lower or cover registration costs to ensure more young artists can participate. For questions about scholarships, please contact programming@floydartcenter.org
