Class Description

Let's build a larger 3-dimensional object that is more decorative than functional! First, we will design the shape and prepare for surface embellishment and add-ons like feet and customization. Then you will draft the pattern, true the edges, and I will double check your work. Now the easy part- build your design. Depending on the needs of the class, I will introduce a new finishing technique. You may choose to work on one large piece or several smaller ones.

About the Instructor

I have been an artist all my life. I have worked with yarn, cloth, silver, gold, pearls, makeup, watercolor paint, and oil paint. After Covid, I had to start something else. When I touch clay, the world melts away. It is after all, playing in mud. I found clay. It perfectly matches my spirit. This class is very close to my current personal work. It is sliding very close to sculpture. I love how easy it us to create what I see in my mind. But the more I work, I continue to find big and little pitfalls. I want to share these with my students before they trip into them. I always stress that I want my students to use their own creativity in their work. I make suggestions, give examples, but students can always go their own way. I help them from falling off their own path.

Class Registration and Cancellation Policy

Advance Registration Required.

Registration: Class registrations are confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cancellation/Refund: The Floyd Center for the Arts will conduct classes for which an adequate number of students are registered. Class status is determined 1 week before the first date of the class, unless otherwise noted. Acceptance of payment does not guarantee that a class will run. If the Center must cancel a scheduled class, students who registered for such classes will be given the opportunity to transfer their payments to another course or receive a full refund of their tuition payment.

Student Withdrawals: Students withdrawing from a class before the cancellation period has ended, (one week prior to the start of class, unless otherwise noted) can receive a full refund or may transfer their payments to another class of their choice. Students who withdraw after the cancellation period has closed or after class has started, will not receive a refund.
