Halloween KidFest TO-GO!

Updated: Oct 24, 2020

Children’s Treats and Art Activities To-Go

1:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Sunday, October 25, 2020

Kids and parents are invited to get creative and get spooky on a special day of Halloween fun at Floyd Center for the Arts. Pumpkins and Halloween-themed treats and crafts will be offered for area families to pick up and take home to enjoy.

For this all outdoor event, the grounds of the Center will be decorated with whimsical and spooky Halloween props and ready for children of all ages to stop by for a special halloween treat. TruHarvest Farms of Christiansburg, VA is donating pumpkins, so each child can select one and take it home to carve and decorate. Costumed volunteers will be stationed at themed-tents to pass out treats and halloween crafts to go. Children and adults can also visit the photo booth tent to snap a keepsake photo in their costumes and anyone without a camera can ask an art center staff member to take a picture and have it emailed to them. The art center’s neighbor, the June Bug Center, is helping out by providing some teen volunteers from the June Bug’s Musical Theatre for Teens Program, who will also be involved in live pop-up performances throughout the afternoon.

This event will be held entirely outdoors and the Center will not be open to the public, in order to prevent crowds gathering indoors, due to the Covid 19 pandemic. All visitors are asked to maintain 6 feet of distance from staff, volunteers and other visiting groups. Masks or other face coverings must be worn. Once they have visited all of the stations, visitors are asked to not stay on premise longer than necessary, in order to give everybody a chance to participate without creating long lines. These restrictions are in place to help protect the health and well-being of the Center’s staff, volunteers, and visitors. Halloween Kid Fest will be held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, it will become a drive-through event. The event will be Sunday, October 25, 1:00 PM through 4:00 PM, and it is all FREE.

A very special thank you goes out to our event sponsors, TruHarvest Farms of Christiansburg and the Floyd Country Store, of Floyd. This is the first time the art center is partnering with TruHarvest Farms and we are just so grateful for their kind donation of 100 pumpkins for this year’s Halloween Kid Fest. We also want to thank the Floyd Country Store for their continued support of this event. Each year, the Floyd Country Store donates hundreds of pieces of candy for us to hand it out to our community’s children. Donations like these are what allow us to keep the event free for all visitors. Last, but by no means least, we need to thank our amazing corps of volunteers who help set up, break down and facilitate the event, we couldn’t do any of this without their help!
