Covid-19 Statement from the Center

As of this writing in early August, the Center has reopened and we are welcoming visitors into our galleries.  We are currently open Monday through Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm.  We  considered opening with more restricted hours, but have decided - for now - that it is better to be open more days than it is to try to condense the number of hours we are open to the public.  We are planning outdoor and indoor-but-well-ventilated classes, open studios, and other creative opportunities for the coming months.  These events will be offered at a reduced capacity and will require advance registration to ensure that we can allow plenty of space for all to stay comfortable and safe.  Like many of you, we at the Center are continually monitoring, learning and making adjustments as needed, based on the best information we have in the moment. We are so grateful to be back at the barn, doing the work we love and we look forward to seeing your smiling eyes whenever you’re ready to come visit! Before you head our way, though, please know the following:

1). Don't be a spreader - Please stay home if you have recently tested positive for the novel coronavirus, have been exposed to someone who is infected with it, or if you are experiencing ANY of the related symptoms.  Some symptoms include: fever, cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, headache, muscle ache, new loss of sense of smell and/or taste, difficulty breathing, dizziness or confusion.  More info about Covid-19 can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

2). Face Masks or Other Cloth Face Coverings (bandanna, etc) are REQUIRED to be worn by ALL Visitors over the age of 10 years at all times inside the Center and when unable to maintain a minimum of 6 ' of distance outdoors.  For children 2 - 10 years old, it is left to the parent or guardian’s discretion whether or not their child should wear a mask.  This is a current Commonwealth of Virginia law, and there are NO exceptions.  This is for the protection of all of our Visitors, Volunteers and Staff members.  All of us working at the Center are required to wear face coverings, too.  We do this for your protection, as well as our own.  If you arrive at the Center and have forgotten your mask, it's ok, we get it - it’s tough to remember everything all the time.  You can call us from the parking lot or come to the front door to request one, we have paper masks available for a $1.00 suggested donation, and we will happily meet you outside or at the door with it.

We understand that some people have difficulties wearing a mask or just prefer not to, so we have

made the following accommodations:

  • Our current exhibits are available on our website for your virtual viewing pleasure so you can still view the artwork on display from afar (links below)

  • Curbside delivery is available for all purchases, whether it's artwork from the galleries, gift certificates, or gift shop items.  Give us a call, message us on facebook or send us an email and we will arrange to help you shop for handmade goods from the comfort of our parking lot

  • We can meet with you outdoors.  If you have questions but are not able or ready to come inside the art center, just call the front desk and the appropriate staff member will come outside and speak with you from a distance

3). Please sanitize hands upon entry.  We have plenty of hand sanitizer available. Staff members are cleaning and sanitizing commonly touched surfaces throughout the day and sanitizing and washing their hands frequently, as well

4). * D  -  I  -   S  -  T  -  A  -  N  -  C  -  E *   Stay 6 Feet Away Please!  Please maintain an appropriate physical distance of at least 6 feet between yourself and all other visitors who are not a part of your party, including art center staff and volunteers. We will monitor and, if necessary, limit the number of visitors allowed inside at any given time in order to ensure appropriate distancing is possible for all.

5). Hours of Operation: Currently we are open Monday - Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm, but that might be subject to change based on the current conditions of the pandemic in our community.  If you are making a special trip to visit the Center, you may want to contact us in advance to confirm our current hours of operation.

The safety, comfort and well-being of all visitors, volunteers and staff members, along with our entire community, are what matter the most to us. In this ever-changing climate, we continually explore and find safe new ways to offer artistic opportunities to our community, and to support area artists in every way we possibly can. We hope we can all safely gather together in celebration of the arts and the creative spirit very soon.  Until then, though, please stay healthy and keep making whatever it is that brings you peace and joy!
