Class Description

Ceramics Open Studio, weekly on Thursdays, 5:00PM-7:00PM. The entire ceramics studio is open for use, including 8 potter's wheels, several handbuilding tables, wedging and glazing tables, glazes, tools, and more. Participants must be familiar with the process of working with clay and glazing materials. Firing will be done by FCA and is a separate fee. The Studio Manager is only there to facilitate the open studio, not to teach. Clay will be availble for purchase. Bringing of outside clay is prohibited. ***Walk-Ins are no longer allowed as our group has grown. Please pre-register online or by calling us at (540)745-2784.

About the Instructor

Floyd Virginia based potter, Betse Dunham has been making functional pottery for several years. A full-time insurance agent, she started making pottery part-time by taking classes at Floyd Center for the Arts. she is a member of the Blue Ridge Potters Guild and participates in the annual pottery show in Salem, VA.

Class Registration and Cancellation Policy

Advance Registration Required.


Registration: Class registrations are confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.


Cancellation/Refund: The Floyd Center for the Arts will conduct classes for which an adequate number of students are registered. Class status is determined 1 week before the first date of the class, unless otherwise noted. Acceptance of payment does not guarantee that a class will run. If the Center must cancel a scheduled class, students who registered for such classes will be given the opportunity to transfer their payments to another course or receive a full refund of their tuition payment.


Student Withdrawals: Students withdrawing from a class before the cancellation period has ended, (one week prior to the start of class, unless otherwise noted) can receive a full refund or may transfer their payments to another class of their choice. Students who withdraw after the cancellation period has closed or after class has started, will not receive a refund.
