Mason Jars and Margarita Glasses - Making Homegrown Floral Designs (FIB-082921)
10
classDescription
This workshop is geared toward people interested in learning some new skills about arranging flowers at home and are even interested in growing some! Participants will walk away from the workshop with two flower arrangements in hand, basic knowledge of floral design, and ideas of what to grow in their own garden. The workshop will begin with a round of introductions so Liza and Katie can learn more about why participants are there and what they are most interested in learning. This will help tailor the class slightly within the course description. Liza will then introduce the flowers she brought from her farm and give an overview of how easy or challenging to grow each bloom is. She will give some tips and tricks of how and what to grow through the seasons. Katie and Liza will then offer an introduction to basic floral design, including focal, filler, and greenery elements as well as shape, texture, and style. The pair will then demonstrate how to create a spiraled stem arrangement for a mason jar as well as a "footed bowl" arrangement in a margarita glass. Participants will then get to spend the rest of the time playing with flowers with assistance from Liza and Katie. Just before the end of the workshop, they will demonstrate another surprise design based on participant interest.
