Our Story
Founded in 1995 as the Jacksonville Center for the Arts and now known as the Floyd Center for the Arts, this institution has evolved from a neglected dairy barn into a vital cultural hub in Floyd County. Over the past 25 years, it has transformed through extensive renovations and community support, becoming Virginia's first Residential Crafts School and a top-tier organization recognized by the Virginia Commission for the Arts. The Center hosts over 200 events annually, including exhibitions, festivals, concerts, workshops, and educational programs, contributing significantly to the local economy and fostering a rich artistic environment. With ongoing improvements and innovative initiatives like the Floyd Living Traditions Festival, the Center continues to enrich the cultural landscape and support artists in rural Virginia.
